NEED-A-KIDNEY SHIRTS

Unfortunately, Nancy is no longer making t-shirts. However, you can use some of her ideas below and create your own shirt (or hat, buttons, mugs...an extensive variety of things) on sites such as Zazzle or Cafe Press.

A great way to let people know that you're searching for a living donor is to announce it by wearing a t-shirt or sweatshirt. It's an easy way to "break the ice" and start a conversation with someone who doesn't know you. It enables you to make a silent statement that invites and gives others "permission" to ask about your situation. When answering questions, hand out several donor-search cards to help people remember the information. Wearing a shirt and handing out cards allows you to spread the word to people who would otherwise never know about your search.

The more clever your shirt, the better. Nancy Miller, a kidney donor featured on this site, has made it her goal to educate and inspire others to become living donors. She makes some of the best shirts on the market! Each shirt is custom-made with an amusing catchphrase, such as "Share Your Spare," "I Need a Bean," "Got Kidney?" or "Fork Over Your Spare." Nancy's shirts are reasonably priced, and she donates the profits to the National Kidney Foundation! You can contact Nancy at Donor Darlings on Facebook.
