Not everyone can donate a kidney, but you can be instrumental in someone's search for potential donors:
Spread the word!
It is not unusual for a recipient to find a dozen or more potential donors, only to learn that not one is a match. You can dramatically increase someon chances of finding a match by spreading word of his/her search to friends, family, co-workers, neighbors, church members, and so on. Ask them in turn to pass the word on to people they know. Using the Internet, we can quickly and easily get the word out to hundreds, even thousands of people.
At the same time, keep in mind that despite their “snailness,” word-of-mouth and printed materials are very effective--sometimes even more so than e-mail. Filters often identify legitimate e-mail as spam and automatically dump it, so the receiver never even sees it.
